Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Psychotherapy Curriculum Overview

Our courses are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and can be taken either Part-Time or Full Time.

The curriculum has a heavy emphasis to help students get the most out of the program to prepare them for a meaningful career in counseling and psychotherapy through a psychodynamic lens

Clinical Consultation

By discussing a case with other clinicians, students learn the importance of working through difficult work situations and struggles in their clinical cases. The goal of clinical consultation is to develop strategies with fellow students to diagnose and treat patients through a psychodynamic lens.

Practicum/Internships

Requiring field internships students learn to apply what they are learning in the classroom to the field.  They engage in a range of practice opportunities and are supervised weekly by a qualified mental health professional.

Counseling and Psychotherapy

Another important aspect in preparing for a counseling career after graduation is understanding the core basics of psychodynamic psychotherapy. Graduates are well equipped to apply treatment goals to patients, diagnose their patients, and the competency to work with diverse clients in a range of settings
