Mitch Granberg

Mitchell Granberg, Chief Privacy Officer and Deputy General Counsel, UnitedHealth Group

 

Mitch Granberg is the UnitedHealth Group Chief Privacy Officer and is responsible for leading the enterprise privacy program, policies, and compliance with all privacy laws and regulations. He holds a CIPP/US certification from the IAPP. Mitch joined UnitedHealth Group in 2007 as a business lawyer at Optum, becoming the Optum Chief Privacy Officer in 2014. Mitch became the Chief Privacy Officer of UnitedHealth Group in 2023 and recently served as a board member of the Center for Veterans Research and Education (CVRE) at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center.

 

Mitch received his B.A. from Northwestern University in 1990 and then served in the U.S. Army for five years as a military intelligence officer with the rank of Captain upon discharge. He received his J.D. cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1998, where he was also an editor of the Minnesota Journal of Global Trade. After law school, he was a law clerk for the Minnesota Court of Appeals. He then joined Dorsey & Whitney LLP, where his practice included health, business, and class action litigation. Mitch resides in Edina, Minnesota, with his wife, Lexi, and their 2 children, Greta (18) and Will (16).
